I’m at BlogHer today, talking about Faithful Place by Tana French, the first novel I’ve read in… (counts in head)… probably two years (hangs head in sheepish shame).
It felt amazing to be immersed in fiction again, to want to spend every free minute (including lunch breaks and time reserved for precious sleep) absorbed in writing that reads like a movie. As I wrote in my book review:
“I slipped into the story with such ease it felt almost like I was one of her characters, watching lives unravel through lace curtains.”
There is only one thing that would have totally elevated my reading experience: a trumpet soloist playing background as I flipped the pages of this noir fiction.
